Our congratulations and heartfelt appreciation to the team of teachers and students from the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Department of Aerospace Engineering, who performed extremely well as the \u201cCiiBA Team\u201d at a recent global contest. They have done Thailand proud by winning the 3 rd prize during their participation in the Indoor Agricultural Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Competition, International Micro Air Vehicle Conference and Competition 2022 or IMAV 2022, which was held from 12 to 16 September 2022 at Delft University in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IMAV 2022 is the world’s largest autonomous robotics competition, and this year the event is in its 13 th year. 25 teams from universities and private companies from 11 countries around the world participated, including the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Brazil, England, Thailand, etc. In this competition each team has to build an autonomous flying robot or drone in order to perform various missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The CiiBa team, the only team from Thailand in this year\u2019s contest, took part in the Greenhouse Challenge, which was a flying robot competition with the purpose of inspecting tomatoes in greenhouses. The robot had to fly around tomato vines in order to examine them and detect various abnormalities, such as insects, parasites and a range of plant diseases autonomously through an artificial intelligence system. This AI system collected data on the environmental conditions inside each greenhouse, such as temperature, humidity, and carbon dioxide level at various points within the greenhouse. In this competition, the CiiBa team was ranked 3rd overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CiiBa team consisted of undergraduate to doctoral students from the Department of Electrical Engineering as well as undergraduate students in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. The team advisors were Assistant Professor Dr. Kanjanapan Sukvichai, of the Department of Electrical Engineering, and Assistant Professor Dr. Chinnapat Thiphayophas, of the Department of Aerospace Engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
