On February 7-10, 2023, a team of professors from the Faculty of Engineering, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Weerachai Chaiworapuek, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Kanet Katchasuwanmanee, Assistant Dean for Academic Services and Industrial Cooperation,and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chinnathan Areeprasert, Assistant Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Research and Innovation), discussed cooperation with the industrial sector and several universities in Taiwan in the area of student internships, research collaboration with the business sector, as well as the chance to work with such companies in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result of discussions with the business sector, Sinbon Company, Skwentex Energy Corporation, and Compal Electronics Inc are among the companies that have accepted our students for internships. Five students from Engineering KU have already completed a one-year internship in a variety of sectors. For fourth-year undergraduate students, each corporation willselect the research project topics, and it additionally plans to accept students for internships with the possibility of employment in Taiwan following graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, a team of professors from the Faculty of Engineering held discussions regarding academic cooperation, accepting students for internships, and conducting joint research projects with the Taiwanese company Shiieh Yih Machinery Industry and Prof. Dr. Tzung-Hang Lee, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Tamkang University. Presently, there are engineering students who have been employed as interns at that company for nine months. Following these discussions, Shiieh Yih Machinery Industry will be recruiting more students for research projects, internships, and full-time positions. Furthermore, the company is interested in establishing research partnerships with Tamkang University and Kasetsart University. A meeting has subsequently been scheduled in order to determine further details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this visit to Taiwan, the team also attended an academic cooperation meeting at National Chung Cheng University with Prof. Yong-Song Chen and a team of professors from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, including Prof. Chin-Chin Cheng (Vice Dean of Office of International Affairs), Prof. Chun-Ping Jen (Director of the Division of International Development), Prof. Michael Chan (Director of the Division of International Students) on the subject of student exchange, collaboration, and international students. In the long term, the Faculty of Engineering and its students will benefit directly from the new educational initiatives being unfurled at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and the collaborations that result from this meeting. These initiatives can be further developed to provide students with the highest standards of engineering training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the team had the opportunity to visit National Chung Hsing University with Prof. Rei-Yu Chein and a team of professors from the Department of Mechanical Engineering under the banner of student exchange at all levels, as well as collaborative research with Taiwanese industry, teacher exchange and student academic seminar activities. As a consequence of this meeting, strong cooperation and educational activities were created for the benefit of engineering students to obtain the skills to succeed on the global stage.<\/p>\n
