The Faculty of Engineering at Kasetsart University recently concluded a series of special lectures on “Reducing Heat Island Phenomenon (by transferring heat from above ground to underground)” delivered by Prof. Kazushige KIKUTA from Japan’s National Institute of Technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The initial lectures, held on Friday, August 9, 2024, were conducted in two identical sessions, morning and afternoon, at the Conference Room 0410, Chuchat Kamphu Building. These sessions attracted a diverse audience of students, faculty members, and professionals in the field, generating significant interest and discussion. Following the success of the first day, a follow-up session was organized on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. This additional lecture provided an opportunity for deeper exploration of the innovative techniques introduced in the earlier sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the series, Prof. KIKUTA shared valuable insights into urban heat mitigation strategies, focusing on the novel approach of transferring heat from above ground to underground. Attendees gained a comprehensive understanding of the solution to urban climate challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof Kazushige Kikuta, an expert on heat transfer and geothermal heat pumps from the Kosen National
Institute of Technology in Japan, is visiting our faculty of Engineering from 4 until 17 August, 2024 as an invited guest of the Department of Electrical Engineering. This event underscores Kasetsart University’s commitment to bringing international expertise to its students and the wider academic community, fostering innovation and cross-cultural knowledge exchange in addressing global environmental challenges.<\/p>\n
