At the Student Design Competition during the 2024 Thailand-Japan Microwave (TJMW 2024) event, students of our Faculty of Engineering\u2019s Department of Electrical Engineering earned awards for designing a circuit to convert energy from wi-fi signals into DC power. The TJMW 2024 event was organized by King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang and King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, and was held from October 2-4, 2024, with the support of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TJMW 2024 featured a wide variety of activities, including a lecture on Wireless Power Transfer by Professor Takashi Ohira from Toyohashi University of Technology and a lecture on semiconductor chip design by Associate Professor Dr. Suramet Chalermvisutkul from TGGS, King Mongkut’s University of Technology, North Bangkok. In addition, there were presentations by master’s and doctoral students of their research results, with a large number of entries from Japan, covering various techniques used in radio frequency waves, microwaves, and millimeter waves. Furthermore, seminars were conducted with experts from Thailand and Japan participating in discussions and knowledge exchange.
In the Student Design Competition, the organizers separated the students into teams of 5 to 6 members each, where each team consisted of a mix of students from both Japan and Thailand. The award-winning students of the Department of Electrical Engineering are as follows:
The first prize was awarded to Mr. Akkarapol Jiranaparat, a third-year student in the Department of Electrical Engineering, along with his teammates from King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, Kasetsart University Demonstration School, Kyoto University, and Okayama Prefectural University.
Second place was earned by Mr. Jirayut Jirakiat, a doctoral student in the Department of Electrical Engineering, together with his teammates from King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, Kasetsart University\u2019s Sriracha Campus and Hiroshima University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Third place was achieved by Mr. Athikom Chiangtawan. a third-year student of the Department of Electrical Engineering, along with his teammates from King Mongkut’s University of Technology, North Bangkok, Burapha University, Kasetsart University\u2019s Sriracha Campus and Okayama Prefectural University.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Denchai Worasawat, a lecturer at the Department of Electrical Engineering, served as an advisor and guided the students throughout their participation in the competition.<\/p>\n
