On 2 March 2026, the Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University launched the Global Project-Based Learning (PBL) Programme on Climate Change in collaboration with Saitama University. The programme brings together 16 students from Saitama University and 18 students from the Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University, who will work collaboratively through international project-based learning activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme is conducted through both online and on-site components. The Online International Collaborative Learning (COIL) sessions were held on 18 December 2025; 21\u201322 January 2026; and 12\u201313 February 2026, followed by the on-site programme at the Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University from 1\u201317 March 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the start of the programme, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suchat Luengprasert, Vice Dean for Administration, delivered welcoming remarks highlighting the importance of international academic collaboration and global learning experiences for students. Prof. Takako Ochi from Saitama University also introduced the programme overview, objectives, and activity framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme is organized around three interdisciplinary project themes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Group A:<\/strong> Urban Flooding<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Group B:<\/strong> Green Spaces & Flood Risk<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Group C:<\/strong> Visualising Travel Stress<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Following the programme introduction, Thai and Japanese students participated in ice-breaking activities designed to build connections and foster teamwork in multinational groups. The visiting delegation also toured the Chemical Engineering laboratories and the Dongtaan Racing Student Club, providing international students with an opportunity to experience both the academic environment and extracurricular activities at the Faculty of Engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    As part of the cultural learning activities, on 4 March 2026, students participated in a Thai cultural exchange session. The activity included a hands-on workshop on making Luk Chup, a traditional Thai dessert, allowing Thai and Japanese students to learn and interact through culinary culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The participants also attended an \u201cIntroduction to Thai Culture\u201d lecture delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Patamaporn Sripadungtham from the Department of Electrical Engineering. The lecture introduced key aspects of Thai culture, including Thai history, traditional greetings and etiquette such as the wai<\/em>, basic Thai language expressions, and other cultural practices. These activities provided students with a deeper understanding of Thai culture while strengthening intercultural communication and friendships among participants from both institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    During the on-site programme, students also participated in academic lectures, Thai language and cultural activities, and field-based learning experiences. These include a study visit to Ayutthaya and technical site visits to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Ratchavipha Drainage Operation and Maintenance Site<\/strong>, initiated by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • National Disaster Warning Centre<\/strong>, initiated by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Through these academic and field-based activities, students developed the ability to work collaboratively in multinational teams to address complex challenges related to climate change. Engagement with local communities in Thailand also encourages participants to strengthen their commitment to contributing to society with a global perspective and proactive mindset.<\/p>\n
