Signing Ceremony for Master’s Double Degree Program between Kasetsart University and Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan

On Wednesday, 14 July 2021, Kasetsart University (KU) and the NARA Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan, co-hosted the signing ceremony for their jointly-administered Master’s Double Degree Program. The MOA was signed in this virtual (online) meeting by Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of KU, and Dr. Kazuhiro Shiozaki, President of NAIST.

The event was also witnessed by the Honorable guests, UN/SEED-Net, JICA, and the ICE-Matter consortium, as well as the executives and professors from both universities.

Executives from NAIST – Prof. Jun Ohta, Executive Director/Vice President for Research & International Affairs, Dr. Tsukasa Ogasawara, Executive Director/Vice President for Education & Student Support, Prof. Tsuyoshi Kawai, Dean, Graduate School of Science and Technology.
Executives from KU – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Peerayuth Chansethikul, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Srijidtra Charoenlarpnopparut Dean of the Graduate School, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sureerat Pholsilp, Head of Department of Materials Engineering, Asst. Prof. Dr. Patamaporn Sripadungtham, Vice Dean for International Affairs and Asst. Prof. Dr. Teerasak E-Kobon, Associate Dean of the Graduate School.

Mr. Krit Tankanarat, Consul-General, Royal Thai Consulate General in Osaka, Dr. Yoshio Otani, Director, JSPS Bangkok Office and Prof. Emeritus Dr. Tamon Ueda, Chief Advisor and Acting Executive Director, AUN/SEED-Net, were also kindly joined the signing ceremony as an honorable guests and delivered congratulating remarks for the ceremony.

The KU-NAIST Master’s double degree program will be taught and administered jointly by the Department of Materials Engineering, KU, and the Division of Materials Science, NAIST.

The Double Degree program has been co-developed by the two parties for the past 4 years, with strong support from AUN/SEED-Net, JICA, and the ICE-Matter consortium. The first class of students will be admitted to this Double Degree program in the Fall (autumn) semester of the 2022 Academic Year. The students will spend their first 3 semesters at KU and their last 3 semesters at NAIST, culminating in two master’s degrees from both universities. The Double Degree Program will strengthen academic and research collaboration between the two institutes and produce outstanding graduates.
