A courtesy visit of the delegation from Brunel University London, UK

Tuesday 8 November 2022 – Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat President of Kasetsart University along with Associate Professor Dr. Kampanat Pensupar, Vice President for International Affairs; Associate Professor Dr. Chamaipak Tayjasanant, Assistant to the President for International Affairs; Associate Professor Dr. Peerayuth Charnsethikul, Dean of Faculty of Engineering; Assistant Professor Dr. Patamaporn Sripadungtham, Vice Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Engineering; Associate Professor Dr. Weerachai Chaiworapuek, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering; Associate Professor Dr. Wichai Siwakosit, Lecturer at the department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering; Dr. Kanet Katchasuwanmanee, Lecturer at the department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering; Ms. Prattana Thirakiettikun, Head of International Collaboration, International Affairs Division; and personnel from the International Affairs Division welcomed and attended the meeting to discuss possibilities for future academic collaboration between Brunel University London, England and Kasetsart University. The delegation from Brunel University London, UK includes Professor Trevor Hoey, Vice-Provost (International and Academic Partnerships) and Professor Rakesh Kanda, Vice Dean International on the occasion of their official visit to Kasetsart University.

The main purpose of this visit is to discuss possibilities for future academic collaboration between Brunel University London, UK and Kasetsart University. On this occasion, Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University, expressed his gratitude for a courtesy visit of the delegation from Brunel University London, UK; and will support every opportunity to build educational cooperation between the two institutions. Then, Associate Professor Dr. Kampanat Pensupar, Vice President for International Affairs Kasetsart University led to a video presentation introducing the university and providing broad information about Kasetsart University as a large public university comprising 4 campuses with currently the Suphan Buri Campus Establishment Project; the Faculty of Medicine Establishment Project; and the university accounts for the largest number of students in Thailand as well as many research stations operating all over the country. Kasetsart University was the first public university in Thailand to offer courses in agriculture. Currently, Kasetsart University offers academic programs in various fields at the undergraduate and graduate level. Along with saying that Kasetsart University, which is entering its 80th year in February 2023 and organizing an international conference on our 80th anniversary. Professor Trevor Hoey, Vice-Provost (International and Academic Partnerships) then expressed his gratitude for warm welcoming and provided information about the university.

Brunel University London is one of the top public universities in London, United Kingdom. It is ranked #=412 in QS World University Rankings 2023. Founded in 1966, located in Uxbridge, North West of the City of London. Currently, there are approximately 15,000 students from more than 100 countries around the world. Brunel University London’s teaching and research has been highly ranked by the Times Higher Education, both for computer science and for engineering and technology. Brunel has three constituent Academic Colleges: the College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences; the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences; and the College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences. Brunel offers 32 subject areas and more than 220 module-based undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Research at Brunel has also been organized into three institutes; these include Institute of Energy Futures, Institute of Environment, Health, and Societies, and Institute of Materials and Manufacturing. Recently, Brunel University London’s new Institute of Digital Futures was officially launched at a virtual event that heralded the importance of digital research and innovation for tackling many of the grand challenges faced by society.

The meeting exchanged information and discussed future cooperation between Kasetsart University and Brunel University London, United Kingdom, to promote exchange of academic and research knowledge at the student, personnel, and faculty level between universities of both universities in a variety of disciplines and faculties. Both sides are very pleased with today’s discussion on the issues of academic cooperation, especially in the field of mechanical engineering, the faculty of Engineering in various dimensions such as Double Degree Program, Inbound and Outbound Exchange Student, Exchange Researcher and Faculty Staff, Visiting Professor, Short or Summer Program; Scholarship Opportunities for International Students, etc. And both sides will coordinate directly to follow up on the progress of the next steps soon.
