Faculty of Engineering students participate in the project to promote KU students’ potential for internationalization in Japan

Students of the Faculty of Engineering participate in a project to promote the development
of KU students’ potential for internationalization in Japan From 14 until 21 May, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aphichart Rodchanarowan, Vice Dean for Human Resources, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Weerachai Chaiworapuek, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, led a group of 7 graduate students to attend the 3rd Academic Conference at Shizuoka University and Keio University, Japan. The theme of this conference was “Heat-Fluid, Biomedical, and Biomass”, which has been held with the continuous support from the Faculty of Engineering and the International Relations Division of Kasetsart University since 2017.

The faculty members exchanged and learned about management and human resource development in both the academic field and increasing the professional efficiency and effectiveness of personnel at the Faculty of Engineering. In addition, there were faculty and representatives in attendance – from ECAM Lasalle (Mr. Yosawat Iamcharoenchai), Shizuoka University (Prof. Dr. Mitsuhiro Fukuta and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Misaaki Motozawa), and Keio University (Prof. Dr. Kenji Yasuoka). Prof. Dr. Nirihisa Miki, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Keita Ando, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Linyu Peng attended as well. Through their participation in this project, students have developed their skills in several dimensions, including educational potential, research skills, seizing the initiative, and problem solving. Furthermore, they learned about the process of disbursing support funds in accordance with the relevant regulations. Moreover, students honed their communication skills using foreign languages with confidence and assertiveness, in addition to interacting with students from Japan during this project, which led to the development of soft skills necessary for thriving in their personal and professional lives in the near future.

Finally, the faculty members discussed ways to expand the alliance network to universities
around the world. Student representatives from Japan (Shizuoka University and Keio
University), Korea (Seoul Tech), Cambodia (Ecam Lasalle-Phnom Penh), and France (Ecam
Lasalle-Lyon), the Philippines (Ecam Lasalle-Philippines), Taiwan (National Chung Cheng
University), and the Faculty of Medicine at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, will participate
in future activities. Workshops, industrial visits, teamwork training through projects, cultural
exchange programs, and English language skills development will be organised. This activity
encourages experiential learning, and is scheduled to take place from February 25 through March
2, 2024.
