Engineering KU-Curtin Workshop and Study Tour Activities

The Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University, and Curtin University, Australia, jointly organized a workshop and study tour on the theme of energy transition between July 5 and July 19, 2023. 36 students from both institutions participated in study visits to the country’s leading energy companies that had kindly invited these students. The energy companies concerned were the EGAT (Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand) Learning Center and the Engineering Institute of Thailand. Included in the program was a study visit to Rayong Province to Thailand’s new Nong Fab LNG terminal at PTT LNG Company Limited as well as the PTTEP Technology and Innovation Center. Faculty and staff of both institutions participating in these activities.

After the study visit, the participants presented a report on the topic of energy transition and future alternative energy for Thailand and Australia, such as the use of electric vehicles (EVs), hydrogen fuel cells, LNG (liquid natural gas), CCS (carbon capture and storage), renewable energy, and the smart grid. The participants also learned about Thai culture through Thai cooking classes, an excursion to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, as well as visits to several important places. In addition to academic knowledge and experience, the students built friendships among international students in order to practise cultural adaptation, which will eventually lead to the further development of their future potential.
