Kasetsart University students of the Dongtaan Racing team won the Thailand Championship in Vehicle Development, Design, and Construction, TSAE Auto Challenge 2024: STUDENT FORMULA.

The Dongtaan Racing team, consisting of students from the Faculty of Engineering in collaboration with
students from the Faculties of Science, Social Sciences, Forestry and Business Administration, won first
prize in the Student Formula Automotive Development, Design and Construction Competition of the
TSAE Auto Challenge 2024, held from 19 until 21 January 2024 at Pathum Thani Speedway. A total of 26
teams participated in the competition, divided into 12 teams in the Combustion Vehicle category and 14
teams in the Electronic Vehicle category.
Team leader Kritapeera Sumana, a Faculty of Engineering student, spoke on behalf of the team
members, “Since the competition is divided into Static and Dynamic formats, our team divided students
into two teams to be responsible for both competitions, dividing the work according to their abilities
and responsibilities. Initially, the team set its goal for this year’s competition, which was to achieve first
place and thus become champions of Thailand. After that, we divided the team members according to
the specific tasks they excelled at. Subsequently, the team met at regular intervals to follow up on our
progress and solve any obstacles that we encountered. We used the V Process model to develop the car,
which would undergo design and validation while optimizing and fine tuning the car. The team started
working on the task three to four months before the race day, so that the finished car could be used for
practice and to enable the drivers to get fully accustomed to its handling and performance as well as to
find errors in the car to be eliminated before the actual race. During the competition, even if there were
technical setbacks, they were able to be fixed in time. Thus these minor technical problems did not
affect our car’s performance.”

This is the 4th time that the Dongtaan Racing team has been crowned Thailand Champions. The years
that the award was achieved were 2017, 2019, 2020, and most recently this year (2024). In the
competition, total points were scored as follows:

– In the Overall Category achieved the 1st place score.
– In the Design Category placed 1st.
– In the Presentation Category received the 1st place score.
– In the Skid Pad Category obtained 1st place.
– In the Acceleration Category succeeded in placing 1st.
– In the Endurance Category received the 1st place winning score.
– In the Autocross Category ended up as 1st runner-up.
– In the Best Improvement Category achieved the 1st runner-up score.
– In the Cost Category received the 2nd runner-up score.

In addition, the team members continued, “I am proud and impressed to be able to reach the
championship as expected. I would like to thank my friends, brothers and sisters, professors and the
Faculty of Engineering for supporting the team to remain proactive and focused and to realize our final
goal.”
