Kasetsart University welcomed the Delegation from Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) and the Philippine Association of State Universiti

On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Meeting Room 9, 2nd Floor, Kasetsart University Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart University Bangkhen Campus, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kornsorn Srikulnath, Assistant to the President for Research and Internationalization, along with KU executives, warmly welcomed a delegation from Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) and the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges, Philippines. The delegation, consisting of a total of 14 members, was led by Dr. Hilario S. Taberna Jr., Senior Faculty Researcher.

Accompanying the Assistant to the President for Research and Internationalization were Asst. Prof. Dr. Jiramate Changklom, Assistant Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Engineering; Asst. Prof. Dr. Wandee Kasemsukpipat, Assistant Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Education; Asst. Prof. Dr. Kriengkrai Satapornvanit, Associate Dean for Sustainability Development, Faculty of Fisheries; Asst. Prof. Dr. Jitraporn Phaksopa, Department of Marine Sciences, Faculty of Fisheries; Miss Pratthana Thirakiettikun, Head of the International Collaboration and Networking Section; and staff members of the International Affairs Division. The official visit aimed to promote academic collaboration and exchange ideas on research in food innovation and technology between the two institutions.

During the welcome session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kornsorn Srikulnath, Assistant to the President for Research and Internationalization, delivered a warm welcome speech and presented a video highlighting an overview of Kasetsart University as a comprehensive university in various aspects. Following this, Dr. Hilario S. Taberna Jr. expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and hoped that this meeting would be the starting point for further academic collaboration and joint activities between the two universities. Dr. Jeannette Bayona, Director of Advancement and Linkages/SIAP, ISAT U, then presented information on the higher education system in the Philippines and introduced the visiting delegation from ISAT U and other universities.

On this occasion, executives and lecturers from Kasetsart University’s Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Education, and Faculty of Fisheries discussed possibilities for future cooperation and answered questions related to academic, research, student exchange, scholarship and internship opportunities, research collaboration and innovation, standard comparisons (benchmarking), sustainability, and environmental research.

In the meeting, Kasetsart University introduced key research activities and projects related to food innovation and technology and shared information on relevant programs and facilities that support education and research. The ISAT U delegation showed great interest in opportunities for collaborative research, knowledge exchange, staff training, and student and staff exchange programs between the two universities. Discussions also covered joint research initiatives focusing on addressing challenges related to food security, sustainability, and nutrition, which are expected to benefit both regional and global communities and economies.

This visit marks a significant milestone in the relationship between Kasetsart University and ISAT U. Both institutions expressed their commitment to fostering long-term academic collaboration, sharing deeper insights, and planning future cooperative activities. Both Kasetsart University and ISAT U are confident that this partnership will enhance research capabilities, teaching, and human resource development while strengthening academic ties between Thailand and the Philippines.

Following the discussions, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kornsorn Srikulnath, Assistant to the President for Research and Internationalization, presented a token of appreciation to the ISAT U delegation as a symbol of friendship between the two institutions. A commemorative group photo was also taken to mark this significant step toward successful academic collaboration between the two universities in the future.
