22 March 2021– A delegation from Kasetsart University (KU) visited Ocean University of China (OUC) in November 2019 led by Associate Professor Dr.Chatchapol Chungchoo, Vice President for Quality Development. Subsequently, Associate Professor Dr.Aphichart Rodchanarowan (left), from our faculty’s Department of Materials Engineering, and Associate Professor Dr.Wei Wang (right), School of Materials Science and Engineering, Ocean University of China (OUC), have been collaborating closely to develop proposals in the field of intelligent materials coating. The attempt from both universities eventually paid off with the support of a joint project from China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, under the project number: Project No. G20200015018.
The project funded the collaboration between Associate Professor Dr.Aphichart Rodchanarowan and Associate Professor Dr.Wei Wang for their research into bionic anti-fouling coating of marine intelligent materials, which has a wide range of useful applications. This project potentially benefits several industries, such as nuclear power, aerospace, shipping, steel cables, power equipment, marine petrochemicals, among others.
The collaboration between KU and OUC is aimed at achieving the following outcomes: publications in renowned journals, as well as the exchange of faculty members.
“KU and OUC have been in an academic partnership for several years. I am extremely delighted to extend the collaboration between KU and OUC to a higher level,” says Associate Professor Dr.Aphichart.
