The Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University, in collaboration with the Institute of Water Resources Information, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, and the International River Interface Cooperative (iRIC), a group of river engineering experts from Japan and the United States, organized an academic seminar on “Advanced Topics in River Modeling using the iRIC 4.0 Interface”. The seminar was held on 18 and 19 November 2024 at the Conference Room on the 8th Floor of the Institute of Water Resources Information. The International River Interface Cooperative (iRIC) was established in 2007 by Professor Yasuyuki Shimizu of Hokkaido University and Dr. Jonathan Nelson of the United States Geological Survey with the purpose of developing a software platform called iRIC for numerical simulation of flow and morphodynamics in rivers, and providing seminars and educational material to support that software. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adichai Pornprommin and Asst. Prof. Dr. Donpaphop Manee from the Department of Water Resources Engineering participated as speakers at the seminar.
In addition, on November 20, 2024, Asst. Prof. Dr. Donpaphop Manee traveled to Mae Sai district in Chiang Rai Province together with river engineering experts to survey the flood-damaged areas around Sai Lom Joy Market and Koh Sai community in the Mae Sai river basin area. He also attended a meeting to dialogue with local community leaders and to present information on water management in Mae Sai municipality. (Source: Department of Water Resources Engineering)
