The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University, was honoured to welcome Dr Ludovic Andres, Assistant Attaché for Scientific and Higher Education Cooperation at the Cooperation and Cultural Affairs Department of the French Embassy in Thailand. He joined a meeting to discuss plans for advancing and expanding engineering collaboration between Thailand and France.
Yossawat Iamcharoenchai, Director of ECAM LaSalle Asia Pacific, also joined on behalf of ECAM LaSalle, a leading French engineering institution, in order to help shape a shared, cross-national strategic direction.
Building on a successful collaboration
This collaboration builds on a strong foundation of highly successful joint initiatives, including:
- Extensive faculty and student exchanges: Ongoing exchanges involving faculty members and students.
- The Multi-National Workshop for Engineering Students: An international, hands-on engineering workshop.
- The Semester 5 Transfer Program: A program that hosts French students to study and conduct research alongside Thai students for one semester.
- The Double Degree Program: A dual-degree program that prepares highly capable and globally competitive engineers through study at both institutions.

This tripartite alliance aims to deliver direct benefits to the Department’s students by:
- Expanding academic and research pathways: Creating more opportunities for learning, exchange, and interdisciplinary research between Thailand and France.
- Building an international learning ecosystem: Strengthening the global classroom and enriching a seamless international learning experience.
- Deepening strategic partnerships: Solidifying ties among Kasetsart University, leading French educational institutions, and the French Embassy in Thailand.
The Department extends its sincere thanks to the French Embassy in Thailand and ECAM LaSalle for their enduring trust, strong friendship, and longstanding partnership. We look forward to continuing to advance engineering education together and creating lasting opportunities for students in both countries.
