On Friday, December 13, 2024, Associate Professor Dr. Chamaipak Maiklad, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, welcomed a delegation from the College of Bioresources and Agriculture, National Taiwan University (NTU) at the Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart University.
The NTU delegation included Dr. Yu-Pin Lin, Dean of the Department of Bioenvironmental Systems Engineering, Dr. Chihhao Fan, Associate Dean and Professor of Bioenvironmental Systems Engineering, and other distinguished faculty members. Among KU representatives were Associate Professor Dr. Suchat Leungprasert, Vice Dean for Administration, Faculty of Engineering, along with administrators and faculty members from various departments.
The meeting focused on expanding academic and research collaborations between the two institutions. Key discussion points included:
- Development of student exchange programs
- Establishment of a double-degree program
- Creation of a joint research center
- Research collaboration in engineering, particularly in areas such as Biochar, Circular Economy, and Microplastics
- Potential signing of a university-level Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
Both institutions agreed that collaborative activities could begin immediately, even during the MoU preparation phase. These activities may include joint research publications, student exchanges, scholarship opportunities, and technology exchanges.
The College of Bioresources and Agriculture at NTU, established in 1943, is recognized as a leading institution for agricultural and life sciences globally. The college maintains strong programs in agricultural engineering and bioenvironmental systems engineering, making it an ideal partner for cross-disciplinary collaboration with Kasetsart University’s engineering programs.
The meeting concluded with a gift exchange ceremony and the delegation’s visit to KU’s Kamphaeng Saen Campus.
