On February 14, 2025, Prof. Dr. Wanchai Yodsujai, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, along with faculty members from the Departments of Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, welcomed executives from Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan. The NAIST delegation included Prof. Jun Ohta (Executive Director & Vice President), Prof. Shun Hirota (Dean of Graduate School of Science and Technology & Director of Division of Materials Science), Prof. Yukiharu Uraoka (Director of Information Device Science Center), and Prof. Yoichiroh Hosokawa (Director of Medilux Research Center).
The two institutions discussed academic and research collaboration in the fields of Semiconductors and Materials & Chemistry Informatics, which are important research topics in today’s digital and artificial intelligence era. NAIST has strong expertise in these areas and receives funding support from the Japanese government for research in these fields.
Currently, the Faculty of Engineering at Kasetsart University and NAIST offer dual degree programs with the Department of Materials Engineering and the Department of Computer Engineering. They are interested in expanding the dual degree cooperation with the Department of Chemical Engineering.
The faculty members from NAIST visited the laboratories of the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Materials Engineering and held further discussions on various research collaboration approaches, including student exchanges. This year, two students from the Department of Materials Engineering will participate in a two-month summer internship at NAIST.
