On July 15, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suchat Leungprasert, Vice Dean for Administration of the Faculty of Engineering, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Weerachai Chaiworapuek, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, together with Prof. Wanwipa Vongsangnak, Acting Dean of Kasetsart University International College, and Assoc. Prof. Pitak Chuawong, Assistant to the Dean for Research of the Faculty of Science, participated in the opening ceremony of the Mini-Symposium and Collaboration Discussion between Kasetsart University (KU) and the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) under the theme “Materials and Energy for Future Sustainability.” The event was held at the Conference Hall, 19th Floor, Building 6, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University.

The KU delegation warmly welcomed the visiting delegation from USTB, led by Assoc. Prof. Xing Huachao, Associate Dean of the Institute for Advanced Materials and Technology, University of Science and Technology Beijing, People’s Republic of China.
The symposium served as a dynamic platform for academic exchange, fostering meaningful collaboration between researchers and graduate students from both institutions. The program featured research presentations by seven distinguished graduate students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, KU, who shared their work in areas including materials science, thermal engineering, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
The selected KU presenters and their research topics were as follows:
- Mr. Nuttakorn Chuenboonma
Heat Transfer Enhancement in Rectangular Ducts Using Magnetic Nanofluids: A Study on the Independent and Combined Effects of Ultrasound and Magnetic Fields - Mr. Phanindra Addepalli
Advanced Manufacturing of Sustainable Bioceramic (ZrO₂) Material-Based Drill Bits for Orthopaedic Surgical Procedures - Mr. Patchanon Akarasereenont
Design and Development of a 3D-Printed Posterior Leaf Spring AFO for Gait Analysis - Mr. Nutthaphon Yutthakarn
Hydrogen-rich Syngas Production from Coconut Shell Biochar Employing CO₂/O₂ Gasification with Water-Gas Shift Reaction - Mr. Auangkul Moonrungsi
Development and Testing of a Prototype Force-Sensing Smart Toolholder Based on PVDF Piezoelectric Sensors - Ms. Pakanun Wattanasinbumrung
Intelligent Monitoring of Punch Tool Wear via Cross-Correlation Image Processing and Burr Forecasting using Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM) - Mr. Sakdipat Rakmae
A Machine Vision and Learning-Based Framework for Flank Wear Prediction in Multi-Fluted End Milling

This international provided an excellent opportunity for KU students and researchers to engage with international peers, exchange cutting-edge scientific knowledge, and strengthen academic partnerships. The event also reflected the department’s strategic vision of nurturing globally competent researchers equipped to contribute to sustainable
This event was co-organized by the Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University International College, and the Faculty of Science, aiming to promote academic collaboration and research between the two institutions. The program featured an academic seminar, a group photo session, an academic discussion and video presentation of Kasetsart University, and a laboratory tour at the Faculty of Science.
More than 30 students from various academic fields and nationalities, including Thai, Chinese, Indian, and French, participated in the symposium.
