Environmental Engineering Students Visit the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology

On 7 September 2026, students in the Nuclear Waste Management Technology course, led by course instructor Associate Professor Dr Cheema Soralump, from the Department of Environmental Engineering, visited the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology, or TINT. The visit enabled students to learn about the institute’s mission and its role in applying nuclear technology for the benefit of the country.

This study tour gave students the opportunity to learn about research-reactor technology, radiation applications, nuclear technology, and systematic radioactive-waste management. Topics included waste classification, treatment, conditioning, storage, and safety control measures to prevent adverse impacts on workers, the public, and the environment.

The visit connected classroom learning with practical work in engineering, safety, and regulatory oversight. It helped students understand that nuclear technology provides benefits beyond its applications, while also carrying the responsibility to manage waste prudently, transparently, with full accountability, and in accordance with the strictest safety standards throughout its life cycle — thereby building public confidence.
