This visit stemmed from an initial meeting between representatives of Durham University and the Vice President for Research and Internationalization of Kasetsart University in September 2024, during which potential collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering, particularly in the areas of research and student exchange, was explored. Building upon this initial engagement, the Durham University delegation returned to KU to officially sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Cultural, Educational and Scientific Cooperation, engage in further discussions on collaborative opportunities, and tour the university.
During the visit, the Durham University delegation also introduced the university to KU’s administrators and staff. Durham University, established in 1832, is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the United Kingdom. The university comprises three main faculties: the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Health, in addition to the Durham University Business School. The Faculty of Engineering is part of the Faculty of Science. The university enjoys an international reputation for excellence in academics, law, and business, and was recently ranked 78th in the world by the QS World University Rankings 2025.

During the discussion, the two institutions explored various avenues for academic collaboration, including student exchange programs, joint research networks, and joint academic programs, particularly with the Faculty of Engineering (e.g., Department of Computer Engineering), Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Social Sciences (Department of Psychology and Department of Law). Possible forms of cooperation were discussed, such as the 2+1+1 and/or 3+1+1 (Postgraduate Taught Study Abroad) program, the 1+1 dual master’s degree program, TNE/Articulation Pathway initiatives, student exchange and mobility abroad programs, and interfaculty research collaboration between faculties, Newton Fund & Scholarships, etc.
Following the MOA signing ceremony, Professor Dr. Dokrak Marod, Vice President for Research and Internationalization, presented souvenirs to the Durham University delegation as a symbol of friendship between the two institutions. The visit concluded with a group photo and a warm, friendly luncheon.
