From January 19 to February 6, 2026, Ms. Khin Kalyar Nyein, a Master’s student from Dept of Materials Engineering, Kasetsart University, participated in the JST Sakura Science Exchange Program 2026, hosted by Nagoya University on behalf of the Japan Science and Technology Agency. The program brought together students from four leading Thai universities: Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, Mahidol University, and Mahanakorn University of Technology.
✨ During the program, students engaged in advanced research on the synthesis of Pt/C catalysts using solution plasma techniques for the Oxygen Reduction Reaction (ORR), a key process in fuel cell technology. They also participated in the BMMP 2026 Symposium, which highlighted cutting-edge research on biomimetic materials for energy and environmental applications.
🔬 Beyond laboratory work, students gained broader perspectives through visits to world-class research and innovation facilities, including:
- The Nobel Prize research exhibition at Nagoya University Nobel Prize Exhibition
- Aichi Synchrotron Radiation Center, a leading synchrotron research facility
- Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology, showcasing industrial innovation and clean energy technologies
💡 On the final day, students delivered group presentations on their research findings, strengthening essential skills in data analysis, problem-solving, and international teamwork.
🌏 Overall, the program successfully combined advanced research training, academic exchange, and cultural experiences. It fostered international collaboration and inspired students to pursue future global research opportunities.
