From 4 until 13 September 2026, the Department of Water Resources Engineering and the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University, collaborated with Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), the Netherlands, on a field study under the Multidisciplinary Project (MDP). The study took place in the Ban Huai Hin Lat Nai watershed, Wiang Pa Pao District, Chiang Rai Province — an area frequently affected by flash floods and landslides.
From 4 to 6 September 2026, representatives from the Embassy of the Netherlands in Thailand and faculty members from Chulalongkorn University joined the field activities and exchanged knowledge with the lecturers and students.
This activity provided an opportunity for knowledge and technology sharing among staff and students at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Participants learned about disaster-related issues through real locations and events, practised field surveying and data collection, and worked with local communities. This enabled them to understand the area’s physical conditions, ways of life, experiences, and community knowledge concerning water and disasters — essential information for connecting academic knowledge with the real context and needs of the area.
The activity involved six TU Delft students representing six different nationalities, together with eight undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students from Kasetsart University’s Departments of Water Resources Engineering and Civil Engineering, representing two nationalities. This reflected genuinely international learning and collaboration.
