January 11, 2023 – a team of researchers from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, consisting of Professor Ekaterina Pavlovskaia, Dr. Alfonso Martinez-Felipe and Mr. Malcolm Stone, and researchers from the Center of Excellence in Petrochemical and Materials Technology (PETROMAT) together with the Center of Excellence for Hazardous Substances and Waste Management (HSM) at Chulalongkorn University visited the Department of Chemical Engineering at Kasetsart University. The visit’s purpose is to discuss potential future collaboration opportunities on Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) research toward Net Zero Emissions.
Prof. Dr. Metta Charoenpanich, Associate Professor Dr. Thongthai Witoon and the Green Catalysts Group team jointly presented research on Carbon Capture and Utilization by faculty members in the department. Then, professors and researchers from the University of Aberdeen introduce the colleges and research institutions that have contributed to the advancement of the technology. In particular, hydrogen and clean energy (Hydrogen Economies), which has partnered with other industries to promote energy generation and usage, is concentrating on carbon neutrality in order to attain Scotland’s net zero greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2045. Dr. Kanet Katchasuwanmanee, Assistant Dean for Academic Services, concluded the event by presenting academic service plans, industrial cooperation, and a model for future carbon capture, utilization, and storage collaboration. A meeting will be organized to continue such a collaboration in the future.
