Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University Hosts “AWS Lab with Kiro” Workshop to Build Students’ Cloud Computing and AI Skills

On 28 August, 2026, the Faculty of Engineering at Kasetsart University (KU) held the AWS Lab with Kiro Workshop under the theme “Cloud Architecture — Building with Kiro.” The workshop gave students an opportunity to learn and gain hands-on experience in cloud computing, cloud applications development, and the use of AI in software development workflows through Amazon Web Services (AWS) tools and services.

Assistant Professor Dr Denchai Worasawate of the Department of Electrical Engineering coordinated the workshop activities with AWS Academy. The event was a collaboration between AWS Academy and eCloudvalley, an AWS partner. Mr Korawit Pandphet, Senior Cloud Engineer, served as the instructor, sharing his knowledge and supervising the hands-on sessions.

Forty students participated, including undergraduate students in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, as well as master’s degree students in the international Artificial Intelligence and Biomedical Engineering program. The workshop was held at the Basic Electrical Laboratory, Chuchart Kampu Building, Faculty of Engineering.

Students selected for the AWS Lab with Kiro workshop were prepared through the AWS Academy Cloud Foundations course, which built foundational knowledge of cloud computing and key AWS services through hands-on training. The workshop then covered coding skills using Kiro; installing and configuring systems; developing and deploying applications on AWS; and key AI-assisted software development concepts, including Vibe Coding, Agent Hooks, MCP Integration, Agent Skills, and Spec-driven Development.

These activities enabled students to understand the cloud application development process with Kiro and apply this knowledge to coursework, projects, and real-world systems development. The event concluded with a Q&A session and interactive activities.

The AWS Lab with Kiro workshop supports students’ development of cloud computing, AI, and software-development skills alongside learning through AWS Academy. It also enabled students from multiple disciplines to learn together, exchange experiences, and explore ways to apply cloud and AI technologies in their engineering work and future innovation.

As an AWS Academy member institution, the Faculty of Engineering provides students with opportunities to develop cloud computing skills through AWS courses and learning resources. Participating instructors can select and deliver courses suited to their students, spanning foundation through associate-level topics, such as Cloud Foundations, Cloud Architecture, Cloud Development, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, and Security. The program also includes Lab Projects and AWS Academy Learner Lab for practical experience in AWS systems, helping students prepare for cloud-related careers and AWS certification examinations.

eCloudvalley is an AWS-certified partner and an AWS Premier partner — the highest tier of AWS partnership. It is also officially authorized to provide Claude through Amazon Bedrock.
