From Sweden to Thailand: Strengthening Railway Engineering Collaboration with KTH

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University, had the honor of welcoming Sebastian Stichel, Professor from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, on the occasion of his academic visit and collaborative activities with the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and KURAIL.The visit took place during 19–24 April 2026, under the support of the Erasmus+ programme. This visit aimed to strengthen academic collaboration in teaching and learning advance research in railway engineering systems. Key areas of future collaboration include:

🚆 Wheel–Rail Interaction studies for SRT operations
🔊 Research in Noise and Vibration

During this occasion, discussions were also held with faculty members of the department, as well as engineers from the State Railway of Thailand, to explore potential research directions and long-term collaboration.

🌏 This collaboration reflects the department’s active role in connecting with global academic networks and advancing railway engineering knowledge in Thailand.
