On 4 March 2026, Asst. Prof. Dr. Patamaporn Sripadungtham from the Department of Electrical Engineering, instructor of the course Introduction to Semiconductor Industry, welcomed Dr. Prong Kongsubto, Chief of Staff and Head of Quality, EHS and External Affairs at Lumentum International (Thailand) Company Limited, who was invited to deliver a special lecture titled “Introduction to the World of Photonic Devices.” The lecture was delivered to first-year students from the first cohort of the Semiconductor Engineering Program.
Also attending the session and joining the welcome were Asst. Prof. Dr. Amornrat Lertworasirikul from the Department of Materials Engineering, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Woradorn Wattanapanitch, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siwapon Srisonphan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chowarit Mitsantisuk, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Natsupha Tangnoi from the Department of Electrical Engineering.
The lecture introduced key concepts of photonic devices, highlighting the differences between electrical and optical devices, their industrial applications, and the growing demand for skilled human resources in the semiconductor industry.
